About

Away We Go Podcast goes beyond the track limits to explore travel, food and lifestyle of Formula 1 Grand Prix destinations.

Driving the podcast is Dianne Bortoletto, a travel writer and publicist experienced working in Formula 1, WRC and local motorsport with a long-standing interest in how major sporting events intersect with travel.

Joining Di is regular co-host Ciara Gillan, an Irish-born writer, producer and filmmaker, and co-founder of Formula Live Pulse, a second-screen companion for race fans offering real-time data and telemetry from every F1 session.

Away We Go Podcast features race recaps, informed opinion, travel insights and interviews with guests who have experienced Formula 1 up close.

Despite being based on opposite sides of the world, Di and Ciara come together each week to talk about their shared obsession with Formula 1, guided by an editorial focus on context, curiosity and thoughtful discussion.

The duo loves the racing, team strategy and cutting-edge technology, but like many fans, they can’t ignore the politics of the sport — after all, it’s what keeps Formula 1 spicy.

The show combines Formula 1 analysis with stories from inside and outside the paddock covering the places, people and culture that surround the sport.

Until lights out.

Dianne Bortoletto

Di has always loved the sound of fast cars. Her obsession with F1 was sparked in her first PR job in London working on a Formula 1 account when Jos Verstappen (yes, Max’s dad) was the driver. Back then, F1 was largely behind closed doors. Di thanks Drive to Survive because it’s opened her world to more female F1 friends, like Ciara.

From London, Di moved back to her native Melbourne, and shortly after to Perth, and was PR Manager city’s last six World Rally Championship Rally events, Rally Australia. That’s when Carlos Sainz was rallying (yes, Carlos Senior). She loved the lifestyle in the west, and there she remained. Di worked for Tourism Western Australia and in 2010, she established Pronto PR, a boutique public relations agency where she works with clients in tourism, major events, hospitality and motorsport.

An early adopter of blogging, Travelletto.com was created whilst living in Rome some 20 years ago. Di’s writing evolved to freelance travel writing which she continues today. Di was a top three finalist for Travel Writer of the Year at the Australian Society of Travel Writers 2024 Awards for Excellence.

A dual Australian and Italian citizen means that Di’s blood runs Ferrari Red by default. A proud tifosi, she also cheers for Australians Oscar Piastri and Valtteri Bottas (we’ve adopted him), and of course her ‘cousin’, Gabriel Bortoleto (spelt with one T not two).

Ciara Gillan

Ciara grew up in Dublin, Ireland, where weekends were defined by cheering on Leinster and the Irish rugby team. A storyteller at heart, she has spent 20 years in the film industry as an award-winning producer and published writer. Her career has spanned animation, VFX, and audio, including training at the renowned Transom workshop in the States and running three of her own businesses.

A move to Berlin introduced Ciara to her partner, Simone, and fully immersed her in the world of Formula 1. Bonding over the sport (and Ciara’s endless questions about it), they co-founded Formula Live Pulse to help fans access better live data and analysis. While she still holds a candle for the Schumacher era, she is now a fully committed – if somewhat pained – adopted Ferrari fan. She also keeps a soft spot for Williams, Carlos Sainz, and the calm ruthless of Oscar Piastri.
